The internet has long been a great place to generate an income from selling products digital or otherwise. The digital products however are the most profitable because they don't cost you anything to ship or manufacture, in fact the main cost of digital products is in actually producing them.

Companies started to see a market for selling their products faster and with more emphasis on the buyers end of making money as well as getting a product they want. This sparked the resell rights era where an average Joe could go online and purchase any of many thousand products that came with resell rights, and they could put it back up on the web for sale just as fast as they got it (instantly). Many resell rights products come with a site already built and all you have to do is plug it into your hosting package and domain name, personalize it a bit, and you had a cash cow ready to take orders!

This did well for a while and in fact is still doing well, but with so many people out there grabbing these deals the market is saturated with resellers for the same top products. One of the limitations of the resell products was you couldn't resell it with resell rights, but soon master resell rights was born giving people the ability to make more money by selling resell rights as well as the product (two different prices).

Another limitation was you couldn't change anything in the eBook, which for many was a deal breaker for many reasons. Some reasons were that they didn't want to sell a product that all the back end sales were given to this eBook author they bought it from. Others reasons were that the content of some of these books were good but not great and they wanted to change or add things to it but legally couldn't.

Something better then resell rights came along however, that really gives people incredible incentive to purchase, and control over, what they purchased. This was what was deemed PLR or private label rights. This allows people to change anything in the document, including the links, to your own. Many people would take PLR content and rewrite it (often outsourced to ghostwriters) into an original work recycling the theme and format of the PLR books, so they could copyright it and convert it into resell rights products! This is why it is better then resell rights products, because it could be the mother-ship/creator of resell and master resell rights products.
